Two power reds, 29 Whole Blood, 51 donors, and 33 units of blood will save 99 lives from Academy’s Fall Blood Drive on Thursday, October 15.
Organized by lower school teacher Ms. Crain, Upper School teacher and Service Board Advisor Ms. Bening, and Service Board’s Shapers, Gabi M., Fumei S., and Parker V., the annual event highlighted the importance of life-changing contributions within the CA community.
Academy’s three decades of hosting this event in collaboration with Columbus’ branch of American Red Cross have allowed our students and staff to give blood and help patients in need of transfusions. This year, CA will save 99 of the 5 million lives that are in critical need of blood every year in the United States, emphasizing the important role our school plays in helping the broader community.
Shaper Fumei S., said, “One thing I really like about the CA community is our collective ability to identify and respond to a need rather than simply turning a blind eye…Personally, I find it extremely heartwarming to witness such an impressive turnout rate for the blood drive, as it reflects that people legitimately find value in helping others.”
The success of this year’s turnout reinforces how small gestures can make a major impact.
