This past Monday, September 14, Academy’s field hockey team dominated Bishop Hartey to secure their 5th win of the season. The Vikings started hot with long possessions to gain control of the game. Sydney J. then connected with Katie N. for the first goal of the game. The Vikes kept their foot on the gas and racked up three more goals before half, leaving the score 4-0. Throughout the second half, Academy scored three more key goals, securing the win, including Nola B. finding her first goal of the season.

That Wednesday, September 16, the Vikings traveled to battle Upper Arlington, who stood #1 in Ohio. The match began with an intense draw, followed by extreme Viking pressure. After a gritty possession, Academy’s forward, Josie M., punched one in on a corner (assisted by Ashley H.), leaving the score 1-0. The Golden Bears responded with a quick fast break goal to tie it up. Senior captain Katie N. said going into half that “it’s important to keep the aggressive momentum in order to secure the game.” In the second half, UA came out strong and banged two quick goals to take a steady lead. The game ended 3-1, favoring the Golden Bears. 

The Vikes sail into next week standing at 6-2-1 on the season. They face Lancaster away on Wednesday, September 23.
