Spring Blood Drive Generates 21 Units

Service Board held its Spring Blood Drive on Wednesday, April 8, from 8:00 a.m to 1:30 p.m. in the Athletic Lobby, with just 21 donors, organized by Lower School teacher Ms. Crain, who has been running it for the past eight years.

According to Ms. Bening, the importance of the blood drive is rooted in the fact that blood donations cannot be replaced by anything else. “There are things we have to donate that can’t come from anywhere else,” she said.

Bening also highlighted the value of student participation, especially for first-time donors. She acknowledged that donating blood can sometimes be uncomfortable or unpredictable but emphasized that it should not discourage participation. “Sometimes it doesn’t go perfectly . . . but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.” She also pointed to the broader impact of each donation. “The impact you have on someone you don’t know is truly life-changing,” she said.

The blood drive continues to be an opportunity for students to contribute in a direct way, even through a small commitment of time.
