With the Men’s College basketball tournament just a few weeks away, we take a look at some early favorites and potential Cinderella teams that could make a run, as well as the schedule that will be followed this year.
Selection Sunday takes place on March 15, and March Madness officially commences with the first four in Dayton from March 17-18. Following this, the round of 64 games will take place from 19-20. Round of 32 follows shortly after on the 21st and 22nd. There is a short break following the next couple of days to allow the athletes to recover, but play picks back up with the Sweet 16 from the 26-27. The Elite Eight occurs directly after 28-29, with one final break before the remaining teams travel to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the Final Four. These two games are on April 4, with the tournament wrapping up on April 6, with the NCAA National Championship game.
Although Selection Sunday is over a week away, I have some educated opinions on who we may see in the tournament. Of course, there will be the Blue Bloods of college basketball, including the Duke Blue Devils, UConn Huskies, Michigan Wolverines, and Kansas Jayhawks, that prove real threats to the other teams. A team that has made a real name for itself this year is Miami of Ohio, as they enter the last few weeks of the regular season undefeated and look to keep this momentum going. It would be a shock if at least one of the Blue Bloods doesn’t make it to the final rounds, but it is March, so you never know what may happen.
I guess all that is left to ask is who will you pick be to win it all this year?
