The Vikes showed no signs of slowing down on Thursday night, January 29, after a snowy weekend, as they entered their matchup against Grandview Heights, riding a 16-game winning streak. Academy secured a strong 64–47 victory over the Bobcats, continuing their dominant run this season.
The Vikes controlled the pace for much of the game, capitalizing on both ends of the court. Ranked Number 1 in the Central Buckeye League conference, Academy inhibited Grandview Heights from gaining momentum.
Katie N. said, “We went into the match with focus, which we were able to carry into every quarter, giving us the upper hand.”
Kendall O. led the charge offensively, putting together 26 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Shooting 9-for-22 from the field, she marked her sixth consecutive game with at least 16 points. Gia C. was also a major contributor, shooting 18 points and five rebounds. Lianna L. added valuable support with 6 points and 5 boards.
One of the girls biggest strengths came in controlling rebounds, dominating the night with 12 offensive boards. This effort continued a trend, marking the third straight game in which the team has secured at least 11 offensive rebounds, which is an area that has consistently fueled their scoring opportunities.
With the victory, Academy improves its record to 17–1.
As the season continues, the Vikes remain focused on maintaining their momentum and extending their streak even further.
