On Tuesday, January 20, the boys basketball team played Worthington Christian for the second time this season. During the previous matchup the Vikings won 60-40, so Academy was favored to win, and they did not disappoint. The Vikes dominated, beating the Warriors 61-28. Mitch Z. and Jason S. fueled the team’s success, scoring 20 points and 13 points, respectively.
On Saturday, January 24, the team traveled to Buckeye Valley. Both the Vikings and the Barons came out strong, battling in the first quarter with Academy leading 11-8 going into the second. The Vikes began to dominate, creating a 10-point lead going into halftime. In the third quarter, the Barons bounced back, outscoring the Vikings 18-12, but Academy still held a 31-28 lead. In the final quarter, Academy regained its dominance, outsourcing Buckeye Valley 19-7 to take home a 50-35 win.
The boys are back in action, hosting Bexley on Tuesday, January 27, and Kipp on Wednesday, January 28. The team will travel to Grandview Heights on Friday, January 30.
