Football Brings Home The Trophy

Terrence O-D. (Patrick W./Staff)

On Friday, October 24, the football team welcomed the Whitehall Rams for its final regular season game.

The Rams kicked off to start the game, and the Vikings quickly advanced the ball down the field as Michael T. launched a deep ball to Charlie P. for a touchdown. The Vikings then snatched possession back on an onside kick, revoking the Rams’ offensive opportunity. Academy progressed the ball down the field and finished off the first quarter, with Michael T. throwing a deep ball to Charlie R. in the end zone. The score read 13-0 going into the second quarter.

It was a scrappy second quarter as neither team was successful on offensive. The Rams and the Vikings traded possessions, unable to penetrate through each others’  defensive lines.

Post halftime, our Maroon and Grey got the ball moving again as Charlie P. caught another deep ball in the end zone for a touchdown. Academy’s defense kept the Rams out of the endzone for another quarter, and the score read 20-0 going into the fourth.

In the final quarter, Whitehall finally got points on the board scoring a touchdown on a punt return with two minutes remaining. The game ended in a 20-6 victory for the Vikings.

After the game, Academy was crowned the CBL champions, and as a result they will get a bye in the first round of playoffs.

For the next two weeks the team will work to prepare for the tournament and be back in action on Friday, November 7.
