On Tuesday, October 14, girls volleyball traveled to North Union for its first postseason playoff. Finishing their regular season 12-10, the Vikings fell 1-3 in a four-set battle. North Union took the first set 22-25, but Academy answered back with a 25-22 win in the second set before the Wildcats pulled ahead to take the final two sets 19-25 and 11-25.
Morgan S. led in offense with several key kills, while Nour S. stood out defensively, keeping rallies alive and giving the Vikes opportunities to fight back. Their efforts helped keep the energy high through the first three sets, but North Union’s momentum proved too strong to break.
Senior captain Lily T. said, “Knowing it could’ve been our final game, we played hard and most importantly had fun. I love all our team and am so happy we worked as hard as we could all season and especially Tuesday night.”
The loss brings the team’s gritty season to a close.
