Girls Soccer Continues Strong

The Vikings kicked off last week on Wednesday, September 24, with a tie against Grandview Heights. Although the game was a slow-rider, finishing 0-0, junior Harper C. says, “It was a very intense and close game. We were all playing very aggressively and defensively; everyone was on the edge of their seats.” This was especially true for goalie Taylor G., who created powerful plays and displayed exceptional effort, earning her Player of the Match.

On Saturday, September 27, the Vikes added another win to their 9-3-2 record, defeating Bishop Ready. Similar to last year’s close game against the Silver Knights, this matchup started off weak, with Harper B-M. saying, “Our defending and passing was not to our full potential, but after we got the first goal we brought the level up.” Sydney S. and Addison M. carried the team in goals, scoring 4 and 3 respectively. Addison’s impressive scoring performance along with her ball movement and defense on the field earned her Player of the Match. Mmesoma N. and Lexi F. also found the net, contributing to the final score of 9-0. Harper says, “All of the things we talked about wanting to accomplish–we did. This was a good step in the right direction for a bigger game on Tuesday.”

On Tuesday, September 30, the Vikings will face St. Francis Desales to finish off their second-to-last week of their regular season.
