The Vikings started their week strong with a matchup against Bishop Hartley on Monday, September 15. After a slow first half that ended 0-0, the Vikes kickstarted the second half with a goal by freshman Sydney S.

Sophomore Izu N. says, “We regained our composure during halftime and bounced back with new energy and motivation.”

Building on that momentum, Sydney assisted senior Harper B-M., who found the net for the team’s second goal. To secure the 3-0 victory, Mmesoma N. set Addison M. up with a perfect pass, which she finished to seal the win for the Vikings.

For their final game on Wednesday, September 16, the Vikings pulled off a thrilling victory against rival, Bexley. With just ten seconds on the clock, Harper scored the game-winning goal, earning her a second consecutive title of Player of the Match.

She says, “In the last 30 seconds I knew I had to do everything to score a goal. I just put my head down, did everything I could, and shot it. Thankfully it went in, but I am just happy that the whole team was excited.”

Lexi F. also scored in the first half, resulting in a 2-1 final score. This marked the first time the Vikings had defeated Bexley in over four years, making it “one of the best games we had all season,” says Harper.

After riding a three-game winning streak, the Vikes aim to maintain their stride in the week ahead, as they take on Grandview Heights on Wednesday, September and then Bishop Ready on Saturday.
