Sixth Graders Display Their Wares at Business Fair

Jack W./Staff

Friday, May 16, marked the Sixth Grade’s annual Business Fair which challenges this grade’s students to come up with a product to sell to the Academy community. The students started working before spring break in Language Arts class  to think through a need or a problem and figure out a way to solve it. They then go through different iterations and then land on their final products. The students then pitch their ideas to “sharks,” advertise, and produce their products. All in all, the students work for two and a half months on the project.

The students throughout the project learn entrepreneurial and presenting skills, as well as linear functions and percentages. It is also a fun event for the rest of our community as we get to see and take home some impressive products.

This year we saw very cool products including edible slime, stress balls, posters, Nelson items, build your own gnomes, and basketball players’ cards signed by our varsity team.

Thank you to the sixth grade faculty and students for working so hard to create such a fun event for our community.
