The boys track team entered its postseason with the Central Buckeye League Championships, competing in two days of competition at Franklin Heights: field events, the 4x800m, and running preliminaries were on Tuesday, May 13, and athletes who advanced to finals ran on Friday, May 16. Academy placed third out of eight teams, tallying 95 points.
In the finals, Gabe D-R. surged to gold in the 400m, running a personal record of 49.50, and Patrick F. followed two seconds behind in 51.50 for silver. Chris H. tallied another silver in the 1600m, setting a 4:31.67 personal best. The 4x400m relay squad of Patrick, Henry S., Nicholas J., and Gabe also achieved their best time of 3:27.67 and placed second. In the 3200m, Dane ran to third with a 10:16.76 season best.
Brian A. represented the throwers with a victorious discus distance of 129’0”. Clearing his personal best of 6’2”, Cole S. tallied another gold for the Vikings.
The varsity team continues its postseason journey with the District Tournament at River Valley. Field events commence on Tuesday, May 20, the 4x800m finals and running preliminaries occur the following day, and running finalists compete on Saturday, May 24. Best of luck to boys track!
