Boys baseball tallied two wins and one tie in its last week of regular season play with a stalemate against Division II Westerville North on Tuesday, May 13, and wins against Division I Hilliard Davidson on Thursday, May 15, and then defending District Champion, Marengo Highland, on Saturday, May 17.
Academy tied Westerville North 6-6 on Tuesday, May 13. The Warriors took a fast 4-1 lead at the end of the first inning, yet the Vikings slowly caught up to make it a 4-3 game at the start of the third. Westerville North continued building its lead, tallying two more runs for a 6-4 lead in the sixth. Academy fought to tie it up 6-6, with runs by William D., Dominic D., Theo F., Thomas R., and Trey R. Neither team could come out on top in a 10-inning stalemate.
The Vikings earned a 3-1 victory over Hilliard Davidson two days later on Thursday, May 15. Academy controlled the game well throughout, with Dominic and Theo scoring its three runs in an otherwise low-scoring game.
Academy pulled away and never looked back against defending district champion Marengo Highland on Saturday, May 17, as the Vikes mercy ruled the Flying Scotts in the sixth inning for a 12-2 win. Hayes D., William, Theo, Joey G., Harmon G., Anthony P., Trey. all contributed to Academy’s 10-point victory.
The Vikings will conclude their regular season with a matchup against St. Francis DeSales on Tuesday, May 20.
The boys will open their Division IV playoff season on Thursday, May 22, hosting Johnstown-Monroe.
