Following the previous week’s big wins against New Albany, Olentangy Orange, and St. Johns Jesuit, the Vikings had a successful final week, ending first in the Central Buckeye League standing, holding a perfect 17-0 win record to complete their season.
To begin, the team played a three-game match against Buckeye Valley on Monday, May 5. Freshman Theo C. swept his third singles opponent (6-0, 6-0), as did duo Sarthak A. and Luke P. for first doubles. To secure the 3-0 win, Avery L. and Arnav E. earned a 6-0, 6-1 second doubles victory.
Moving forward, the Vikes beat Olentangy Liberty (4-1) on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Nason L. lost his first singles match (2-6, 6-7); however, Lucas X. and Jacob K. both swept their second and third singles opponents (6-0, 6-0). Ian C. and Rowen L. secured a 6-4, 6-2 victory in first doubles, and Sujay B. and Jayden T. completed the match with a 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 win in second doubles.
The following day, the Vikings earned another three-game match victory against Wellington. Nason for first singles, as well as Lucas and Rowen for first doubles, both swept the Jaguars (6-0, 6-0). Similarly, Sujay won 6-0, 6-1 against his third singles opponent, securing a 3-0 win.
The team’s last match before postseason was a clean sweep against Franklin Heights at home. Every game was won 6-0, 6-0, except for Ian and Jayden’s 6-1, 6-0 second doubles win. Nason, Jacob, and Bennett K. took on singles, and duo Lucas and Rowen conquered in first singles.
With the regular season completed, the Vikes start postseason matches shortly when their undefeated win streak will be tested.
