Boys Track Wins at Senior Night

Competing two meets in one day apart, boys track honored its seniors at a dual meet against Bishop Watterson on Wednesday, April 30, before traveling to Fredericktown on Friday, May 2.

The boys won their Senior night, scoring 61 points to Bishop Watterson’s 35. Three 4x800m relay squads from led the way, sweeping first through third with the winning team running 9:47.26. Patrick F. claimed first in the 400m and 200m, with times of 52.06 and 23.61, respectively. Rounding out gold medalists in the track events, Andy B. emerged victorious in the 1600m (5:10.53), Henry S. shone in the 300m hurdles (45.63), and Gabe D-R. had a successful debut in the 800m (2:05.10). The field events were just as strong, with Cole S. leading in high jump (6-0) and Brian A. doing the same in discus (132-10).

Congratulations, Patrick F., Owen H., Xander H-VR., Christian I., MJ J., Noah M., Arnav N., Cole S., and Matt T. for a successful season so far.

Art the Fredericktown Invitational, the Vikes placed sixth out of 11 teams with 67 points. Gabe led the runners with first and second in the 400m and 200m, crossing the line in 50.35 and 22.90, respectively. Chris H. claimed two silvers and shattered personal records in the 800m (2:01.87) and 1600m (4:32.81). Rounding out the podium finishes, the 4x400m squad achieved bronze (3:36.20), along with Brian in discus (132-0).

As its final meet before the Central Buckeye League Championships, the varsity boys track team travels to Newark Catholic on Thursday, May 8, while JV goes to Worthington Christian.
