Baseball Celebrates Its Seniors

The baseball team tallied two more wins this week in back-to-back games against Bishop Ready’s Silver Knights and claimed its first win of the series on Monday, April 28, also Senior Night, and then two days later on Wednesday, April 30. Additionally, three games were either cancelled or postponed: Bishop Hartley on Thursday, May 1, and Newark Catholic on Saturday, May 3 were both cancelled, and the matchup against Franklin Heights on Friday, May 2, will be continued at a later date due to lightning.

The boys celebrated seniors Josiah C., Theo F., Harmon G., Joey G., Seth L., Sunil S., and Abe U., with a pregame ceremony. Academy breezed past Bishop Ready in both games, with Dominic D., Theo F., Sunil S., Harmon G., Joey G., Anthony P., and Thomas R. all contributing to the 10-4 victory. The team kept its momentum going on Wednesday, with Hayes D., William D., Dominic, Theo, Joey, Harmon, Anthony, and Trey R. all making key plays to cap off the 13–5 win. 

Friday’s postponed game against Franklin Heights ended full of promise for the Vikings as they led 6-0, with William, Dominic, Theo, Joey, Trey, and Sunil each with one run apiece.

The boys face Franklin Heights on Monday, May 5 and Tuesday, May 6. They play Buckeye Valley on Wednesday, May 7 and Friday, May 9, and then St. Charles on Saturday, May 10.
