Academy’s HOSA Chapter Competes at State Level

Jackson A.

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), founded in 1976, is a global student-led organization that empowers students to become leaders in the global health community through education, collaboration, and real-world experience, promoting career opportunities. HOSA includes more than 260,000 members across 54 chartered associations, including American Samoa, Canada, China, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

Academy’s HOSA chapter competed on April 8 at the State Leadership Conference held at the Glass City Convention Center in Toledo.  Four students reached the state level for the first time in the chapter’s history. Jackson A. placed second in World Health and Disparities in Healthcare. Chaz M. placed in the top 10 for Extemporaneous Writing focused on Health Policy. Aashi V. placed in the top 10 for Medical Math, and Kaito M. placed in the top 10 for Behavioral Health.

Thousands of students compete in HOSA events across Ohio each year, making Columbus Academy’s accomplishments even more impressive. Reflecting on the experience, Moore said, “This year was Columbus Academy HOSA’s first time reaching the State Conference, and the experience was great. With our success, I am looking forward to expanding the club and getting more passionate students involved. I believe that this is just the beginning for our chapter, and I can’t wait to see where we go from here.”

Kudos to all the competitors!
