With five matches last week, including Senior Night on Thursday, April 17, the Vikes remain undefeated in the Central Buckeye League, holding an 8-0 win record.
The team swept Dublin Coffman at home on Monday, April 14. Lucas X. defeated his first singles opponent with a tight 4-6, 6-3, 1-0. Jacob K. and Bennett K. also won second and third singles 6-3, 6-1 and 1-6, 6-2, 6-3. Extending the team score to 5-0, first doubles team Rowen L. and Ian C. won 6-3, 6-3, and second doubles duo Sujay B. and Jayden T. earned a 7-6, 6-2 victory.
The following day, the Vikings had their away opener against Worthington Christian and earned 6-0, 6-0 victories on every court, giving away zero games. Nason L., Lucas, and Bennett played singles, while duos Sujay and Jayden, along with Ian and Jayden, dominated in doubles.
On Wednesday, the team took their third consecutive clean sweep against Olentangy at home. Nason dominated first singles (6-0, 6-2), as did Lucas in second singles with 6-0, 6-0. Bennett won third singles (6-1, 6-3), and duo Rowen and Ian swept first doubles 6-0, 6-2. Second doubles players Sujay and Jayden also won (6-3, 6-0).
Five seniors aced their matches against Whitehall on Senior Night, as Lucas, Jacob, Bennett, Sarthak A., and Rowen were honored beforehand with a ceremony of walking across the court with their families. Sujay and Jayden, for second doubles, faced the Rams and won on every court with a perfect score of 6-0, 6-0, except for Bennett who won second singles 6-1, 6-0.
To finish the week, the boys played Indian Hill and earned another 5-0 win. Nason and Jacob for first and second singles both won 6-4, 6-4, as did Rowen and Lucas in first doubles. Sujay won a tiebreaker for a third singles victory (7-6, 2-6, 1-0), and Ian and Jayden secured the fifth win with a score of 7-6, 6-1.
The Vikings clean sweep streak will be tested again this week as they face the Lions on Tuesday and Bishop Ready on Thursday.
