The baseball team tallied four wins this week against Grandview Heights on Monday, April 7, and on Wednesday, April 9 against Worthington Christian on Friday, April 11, and East Knox on Saturday, April 12.
The Vikings hosted Grandview Heights on Monday, April 7, searching for their first win following two losses the week before. The Bobcats took the early 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Academy responded in the fourth inning with a surge of offense, scoring four runs to take control of the game. The Vikings added five more in the fifth, building an insurmountable lead. The Vikings claimed their first win of the season, 9-2, with runs by William D., Theo F., Harmon G., Joey G., Cooper L., and Sunil S.
Academy defended its Monday win at Grandview Heights two days later with a low-scoring 2-1 victory over the Bobcats, with Theo scoring both runs, as Sunil batted him in twice. Cooper was electric on the mound for the Vikings, with 15 strikeouts across seven innings.
The team traveled to Worthington Christian on Friday, April 11, for its third matchup of the week, continuing its hot streak with a dominant 10-0 victory over the Warriors, with runs from Dominic D., Theo, Joey, Cooper, Anthony P., and Trey R. Harmon started and ended the game on the bump as he no-hit the warriors.
Academy closed out its undefeated week with a 6-1 road win over East Knox on Saturday, April 12, aided by one run each from Dominic, Theo, Harmon, Cooper, Anthony, and Sunil. Capping off a dominant week, this marks the Vikings’ fourth win of the season, putting them 4-3. Dominic pitched for the Vikings, giving up a solo hit in the 6th inning.
It has been a great week for Academy baseball as it continues to build momentum for the rest of the season.
