Celebrating the Year with Breakfast and K-Buddies

(Staff photos)

From decorating pumpkins to apples, making Valentine’s crafts to arranging shapes, we Seniors have gathered in the Dining Hall each month to enjoy the company of our beloved Kindergarten Buddies. Amid our busy school lives, these 45-minute periods are always welcomed moments of joy that bring out our inner children. Tuesday, April 8, marked the class of 2025 and 2037’s final school-year gathering in a celebratory breakfast feast.

When I walked into the Dining Hall, our K-buddies were already waiting for us at the tables, their faces beaming with excitement. I lit up when I saw my buddy, Victoria, waving at me, and we joined the line for food. As the line wrapped around the room, it was one we didn’t mind waiting in—it just meant more time to talk with each other!

SAGE Dining staff provided an assortment of cereal, fresh fruit, scones, danishes, and bagels, along with ice water and mini orange juice boxes. Several seniors indulged in juice boxes themselves, bringing back memories from their younger years. As we chatted with our buddies about their spring break and weekend plans, senior advisors, Ms. Bening, and Kindergarten teachers circled around, capturing cute photos of our meals.

As always, our K-buddies filled our days with laughter, joy, and carefree delight. This final meet-up was extra special, thanks to the efforts of Molly F., Ms. Bening, and our SAGE Staff.

Academy’s long-standing Senior-Kindergarten Buddy program showcases the value in connecting across divisions. Though this marks the end of another year, these relationships will live on for many more to come. From the class of 2025, Clara S. was invited to her senior buddy’s wedding, while MJ J.’s old buddy is our current biology teacher and track coach, Mr. Gittins. This beloved tradition holds a special place in our hearts as it continues bringing people together.

To the class of 2026 and 2038: I hope you’ll share happy memories and savor every moment together!
