On Tuesday, April 8, the boys lacrosse team travelled to New Concord to face off John Glenn for its first game of the week. The Vikings struggled to get the ball moving, scoring one goal in the first quarter while the Muskies racked up four goals. This theme carried into quarter two as Academy failed to capitalize on all of its offensive opportunities, while John Glenn tallied four more goals. The scoreboard read 1-8 going into halftime. Gavin S. and Graham J. each snuck in a goal in the third quarter but the Viking’s defense couldn’t stop the Muskies as they found the back of the net five times. Quarter four was no better and the game ended 3-15.

On Friday, April 11, the team headed up to Toledo to play Ottawa Hill for its second matchup of the week. The Vikings came out strong, outscoring the Green Bears 3-1 in the first quarter. This momentum was short lived as Academy let up in the second quarter, allowing their opponents to slip in 5 goals while they tallied one. Post halftime, the Vikings redeemed themselves, scoring five more goals and limiting the Bears to two. Academy won 9-8 to capture its first win of the week.

The following day, the boys played St. John’s Jesuit to end the week. The Vikings and Titans were neck and neck as quarter one ended 1-1. As the game progressed, Academy’s momentum died, as they scored one goal in the second quarter and then went scoreless for the remainder of the game. This gave St. John’s Jesuit the opportunity to score twelve goals in the remaining quarters. The game ended 2-13.

The boys look to redeem themselves next week as they host Granville on April 15 and travel to Buckeye Valley on April 17.
