On Tuesday, April 1, the boys lacrosse team welcomed Johnstown-Monroe for its home opener. It was a slow start to the game with only one goal tallied in the first quarter by Vikings attacker Gavin S. Academy picked up the pace in the second quarter, scoring four goals and maintaining lock down defense, sending the Johnnies scoreless into halftime. Jownstown bounced back in quarter three, outscoring the Vikes 2-1 but failed to keep this momentum rolling. In the final quarter, Graham A., Graham J. and Drew N. each racked up a goal for the Vikings while the Johnnies tallied one, resulting in a finishing score of 9-3.
On Saturday, April 5, the boys hosted St. Charles for its second game of the week. It was a solid half for both teams, with the Vikings scoring 5 and the Cardinals tallying 8. Academy began to fall apart in the second half as St. Charles outscored them 6-2. This sloppy performance caused the Vikings to lose the game 7-14.
The boys are on the road next week as they travel to New Concord to play John Glenn on Tuesday, April 8, and then they will bus up to Toledo to play Ottawa Hill on Friday and St. John’s Jesuit on Saturday.
