Columbus Academy started out its week with a tough matchup against Buckeye Valley, hosted in the Mack on February 4. Both defenses were relentless in the first quarter, with both teams scoreless within the first minutes. Morgan S. got it started for the Vikes knocking down a layup to put the Vikes within two. The Barrons continued to hit tough shots maintaining a 4 point lead, while Kendall O, and Kyndal S. matched them. Ending the first quarter 5-9 in favor of the Barons. Two quick buckets by Kyndal, put the Vikes within two, but the Barons took it right back going on a ten point run, extending its lead 9-18. Kendall O. finished off the half with a deep three to cut the lead down 12-18 at the half. During halftime the third grade did its classic Little Dribblers performance. Coming out of the half the Vikes continued to claw its way back into the game, with a mid range from Caroline M. and three pointer from Morgan. But the Barrons continued to dominate the boards, not letting the Vikes close the gap. Ending the third quarter 19-32. The Vikes fought to make it a five point game in the fourth quarter, but the Barons were able to run away with the win 27-33.

The Vikings traveled to Fisher Catholic on Wednesday, February 6, to take on the Irish. This game was an offensive shootout, both teams unable to miss, but similar to the week’s earlier game– the Vikings failed to close out on the win, losing 45-49.

The Vikings will travel to Fredericktown on February, Tuesday 11, to take on the Cardinals.
