Hockey Falls Short on Senior Night

In its first match in over a month, the Vikings retook the ice in Dublin, ready to battle, preluded with a quick Senior Night, except for Alina L. and Jennifer L. who were both on the Model UN trip.

Dublin Coffman wasted no time getting on the board just eight minutes in the first period. Landon L. was the first Viking to put a shot on frame before Jake L. would light the lamp to even the game at 1-1. This would be short-lived as the Shamrocks would net another goal just a minute later. The Vikings started to slow before a ripper from Jake L. off of the post lit a fire under the Maroon and Gray to send them to 2-2 at the end of the first period. The second period was Shamrock green as three shots slipped past Sydney L. and the Vikings looked down a 5-2 hole going into the final period.

Academy looked defeated and couldn’t break the ice past the Coffman defense. After a few saves from Sydney, Landon found a quick wrist shot and reignited the Vikings. With under two minutes left, Landon took it upon himself once again to whip one past the Shamrock goalie and give the Vikings one last chance, being down 4-5. But Dublin Coffman retained and held possession as the time ticked to zero.

These seniors and especially Katie V. and Jake S. have been strong in the face of adversity and have given everything for this program when it could barely give anything back, so losing these leaders will make for a different team next year.
