Boys Swimming Crowned Conference Champions for 12th Consecutive Year

As the first team to enter the postseason, boys swimming competed at the Central Buckeye League Invitational against six other schools on Saturday, January 25. Tallying 272 points to second-place Bexley’s 222, this marks the boys’ 12th consecutive conference win. 

The top three Academy athletes include Ethan L. winning three golds and one silver, William D. collecting three first-place finishes and one third-place, and Luke L. earning two golds and a silver.

For individual victories, Luke secured first in the 100 free with 53.09, a 0.2% improvement and season’s best time. William and Ethan also won the 100 breast and 100 back, swimming 1:00.25 and 56.19, respectively. Relay champions include the 200 medley relay (1:45.47) and the 400 free relay (3:30.36).

Other podium finishes were Ethan and Mircea B. in second and third for the 200 IM, finishing in 2:05.45 and 2:17.35, respectively. The 200 free relay (1:37.83) and Justin in the 100 back (1:00.29) earned two silvers. William nabbed bronze in the 50 free (23.15), as did Justin in the 100 fly (58.79) and Mircea for 100 breast (1:09.51). 

Looking ahead, the Aqua Vikes have a week off before hosting Sectionals on Saturday, February 8. Good luck to our athletes as they advance in the postseason!
