In a dominant week, the Vikings cruised and maintained their spot atop the CBL ,adding two more conference wins to their record. First, it was a swift effort led by Caden I. with a season-high of 21 points against Franklin Heights. The Vikings would go on to rout the Falcons in a 59-47 victory.
Next in the Viking’s way were the Rams of Whitehall. In a recurring theme, the Rams traveled into The Mack and got sent home with a loss. In a 73-39 beatdown, which saw the likes of Abe U. and Chase P. get some minutes on the hardwood, the Vikings cleaned up the 3-win Rams for a second time this season. Finally, “The Battle in the 614” held at Ohio Dominican University, saw the Maroon and Gray collide with the Black and Orange of the New Lexington Panthers. Jason S. would be the one to take the reigns with 18 points in a 59-34 bloodshed.
With much of the season still ahead, the Vikings need to remain injury-free and clean up business. They cannot afford to lose a difference-maker in trash time. With rematches against Buckeye Valley and Bishop Ready–both away, Academy will be tested in playoff-adjacent atmospheres, and those games should be fortunetellers into the Vikings postseason.
This year has seen the emergence of Caden into this offense, which has taken a huge weight off of Theo and Jason’s shoulders and added depth to this already very talented Academy offense.
