It has been a busy few weeks in college football, with rivalry week, conference championships, and the announcement of the inaugural 12-team playoff seeding. First, rivals all around the nation faced off in the final week of the regular season.

Notable games included Georgia vs. Georgia Tech, which saw the Bulldogs prevail after eight(!) overtimes, and Ohio State vs Michigan. Known as “The Game,” this matchup is the greatest rivalry in all of sports. As a diehard Buckeye fans, it pains us to write that Michigan once again defeated the Bucks in what might be the most embarrassing loss of the rivalry. Ohio State was ranked #2 in the nation heading into the week, and Michigan, who is still the reigning champs, sat at a measly 6-5. Nonetheless, poor coaching and execution from the Buckeyes allowed Michigan to extend its win streak to four in a row. Embarrassing.

This week saw the conference championship games, featuring Clemson taking down SMU, Georgia defeating Texas in a nail-biter, and Oregon defeating Penn State to win the championship in its first year in the Big Ten. These matchups set the stage for the inaugural 12-team playoff seeding, which was announced Sunday at noon.

Oregon, Georgia, Boise State, and Arizona State all receive first round byes as the highest ranked conference champions. #5 Texas faces #12 Clemson at home, #6 Penn State welcomes #11 SMU to Death Valley, #7 Notre Dame hosts #10 Indiana, and #8 Ohio State plays #9 Tennessee at home. Notable exclusions from the playoffs include Alabama and Miami. Games begin December 21.

As week 15 of the NFL regular season wraps up, we take a look back at how the games unfolded. The Green Bay Packers traveled to Ford Field in Detroit to face the hottest team in the NFL: the Detroit Lions. The game was close throughout; however, the Lions pulled out the victory with a walkoff field goal 34-31 on Thursday night football.

On Sunday the NFL returned to action with many games throughout the day. The San Francisco 49ers got back in the win column as they walloped the Chicago Bears 38-13 with star performances by tight end George Kittle and quarterback Brock Purdy. The New York Jets traveled to Miami Florida to face the Dolphins but were turned away in overtime as the Dolphins came out victorious 32-26 notching the Jets at a record of 3-10, and the Dolphins at 6-7 respectively. The Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans showcased their defenses in their contest with a final score tallying 10-6 in favor of the Jaguars. The Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams showcased their explosive offensenses with a high scoring affair where the Rams etched out the Bills 44-42.

Now we look forward to the Monday Night matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys. Both teams had high hopes entering this season but have not lived up to expectations as the Bengals stand at a record of 4-8 while the Cowboys stand at 5-7 on the season.

The Cowboys will travel to Cincinnati and matchup with the bengals at Paycor stadium at 8:15 on Monday night to finish off week 15 of the NFL season.
