Marking the Class of 2025’s first Senior Night, the boys cross country team honored Xander H-VR., Matt T., and Alester X. on Wednesday, September 18.

Academy welcomed Newark Catholic for a 2-mile dual meet, winning with 22 points to the Green Wave’s 33. Henry S. led with a runner-up finish in 11:45.31, followed by Giuseppe P. and Andy B. with 11:52.64 and 12:04.46, respectively. Graham A. and Alester X. rounded out the top five, placing sixth and seventh with respective times of 13:03.87 and 13:21.85.

After the race, athletes and fans filed to the middle school playground to celbrate the Senior Ceremony. The three senior boys have been running cross country for all four years of high school. Xander’s favorite memory is cheering loud for his teammates; Matt enjoyed running the Buckeye Valley Invitational; and Alester savors the long runs and donuts after early morning meets.

Thanks to the cross country parents, the boys enjoyed a delicious Cane’s meal and a cake with their K-buddies, friends, and teammates. The seniors also received hand-written notes from their teammates, framed photos, and a custom towel.

Continuing the festivities, the team travels to their favorite race: the Centerville Saturday Night Lights on September 28.
