After a week of blazing temperatures and indoor practices, the boys cross country team raced at the Highland Flying Scots Invitational on Saturday, August 31. The boys finished sixth out of 14 teams, an improvement from 18th place a week ago.

Dane C. and Chris H. received medals, placing 8th and 11th with 17:19.33 and 17:39.02, respectively. Henry S. ran 19:18.91 for 52nd, with Giuseppe P. three seconds behind in 54th. Rounding out the top five, Alester X. finished with a 21:26.06 personal record, over one-minute thirty seconds faster than his previous time.

Alester says, “I think everyone’s having fun this year in cross country. We have a big base of fast freshmen who are all running solid. On the boys side, there’s been a lot of improvement since last year. The girls have potential to grow this season too—we have a good crew of people who’ll continue to push each other!”

Looking ahead, the Vikes travel to the McGowan Cross Country Invitational at Watkins Memorial on Saturday, September 7.
