Fans huddled around tables, sharing paintbrushes to support their favorite players on Friday, August 25. The night began with a tailgate on the Quad from 5-7 p.m. that included “walking tacos,” cookies, and a sign-making competition hosted by the Art Society. Students decked out in all-white ensembles, including white body paint and white jerseys to support the football team.

After the tailgate, students went to the bleachers on Hondros. This year’s Viking mascots, Seth L. and Christina L., led the student section in a variety of cheers such as “Peel the Banana,” “Rolecall,” and “Spaceship.” These cheers have been an Academy tradition for many high school generations, and seniors Molly F. and Arnav N. even traded banana suits to pep up the crowd.

After a nail-biting game with an Academy 22-21 victory, the Viking fans rushed onto the field and celebrated the victory to conclude the eventful night.
