On Monday, August 19, the boys soccer team traveled to face off against the Wellington Jaguars. The match started slow with neither team generating anything on offense for the entire first half. But as the second half went on, the Vikings pressured the Jaguars’ defense and forced a penalty, resulting in a penalty shot for Dante R. who snuck the ball past Wellington’s goalkeeper into the bottom right corner to notch the score at 1-0 in favor of the Vikes.

The Vikings rode momentum  as Dante R. centered the ball to senior Harry L. for an incredible header goal. The Vikings defense held firm with strong performances by senior Graham J. and by goalkeeper Seth L. who was awarded the shutout. The Vikings triumphed in a 2-0 victory.

The boys returned to the pitch on Wednesday, August 21, Bishop Ready to face the Silver Knights. The Vikings picked up where they left off and asserted their dominance with multiple quick goals slipping past the Silver Knights keeper. Even with bad field conditions the Vikings offense was clicking, concluding the game with seven goals. The Vikings managed Bishop Ready and came out 7-2.

The Vikes get back to work on Monday, August 26, to play away at Bishop Hartley and have their first home game on Hondros on Wednesday August 28, against Franklin Heights.
