Baseball Clears First Two Playoff Opponents

The CA varsity baseball team won its first playoff games this week against Harvest Prep and Utica.

Hosting Harvest Prep on Monday, May 13, the Vikings obliterated the Warriors 14-0 in only five innings. Pitchers Dominic D., Anthony P., and Thomas R. combined for 11 strikeouts and 0 hits. The Vikes jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the 1st with runs from Dominic, Theo F., Harmon G., Joey G., Sunil S., and Peter T. Academy added 7 more runs in the bottom of the 2nd and 1 more in the bottom of the 3rd.

Traveling to Utica on Thursday, May 16, CA triumphed 4-1. The first five innings remained scoreless, but Utica scored in the bottom of the 6th. CA bounced back with a run from Dominic in the top of the 7th, tying the score and leading to extra innings after Utica failed to make it home in the bottom of the 7th. The Vikings took 3 runs in the top of the 8th, including 2 off a homer by Joey.

The playoff journey continues at Highland on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m.
