Boys lacrosse captured a convincing 8-3 victory over Oakwood on Friday, May 17, earning its a spot in this year’s regional quarter-finals, where they will take on the Blue Aces on May 22. The Vikes defense was dominant against the Lumberjacks, which allowed for the Vikes struggling offense to find its rhythm after the first quarter. Ryne W., recently named CBL Player of the Year, led the Vikings offensive along with Graham J., who exercised total control on the face-off.
The win marked the end of a big week for the boys, who were crowned CBL Champions due to holding the best record in the league. The team has now won two of the last three conference championships.
Looking ahead to next week’s matchup, the Vikes will travel to Granville on Wednesday, as the Blue Aces finished with a better overall record on the year. Academy split its season series with Granville, winning the first and losing the second matchup. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top of this one.
