Boys LAX Beats Mariemont

Boys lacrosse traveled to Cincinnati over the April 27 weekend to capture a much-needed 10-5 win over Mariemont. It was a strong outing by the Vikes, who were short handed due to transportation issues in getting the team there. Co-captains Ryne W. and Mikey J. each enjoyed particularly strong performances. The win gives Academy their sixth on the season. On the other hand, Mariemont drops to 4-9.

The Vikings have struggled as of late, going just 2-4 in their last six games leading up to this one, including a victory over rival Bexley. With seven games left, the team must string together some wins to get favorable seeding in the playoffs.

Hopefully, the Vikes can carry their momentum from this past weekend into their Tuesday match-up against St. Francis Desales, which will be their toughest matchup of the season. The Stallions have eliminated the Vikes from the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and they are a near perfect 6-1 so far this year. A victory by the Vikes would establish themselves as a team you wouldn’t want to face in the playoffs.
