Baseball Loses Two Games, Wins One

(Sean J./Staff)

The varsity baseball team went 1-2 in three away games from April 22 to April 28.

The Vikes destroyed Bishop Ready 11-0 on Tuesday, April 23. Joey G. was a master at the plate, hitting home runs in the 1st and 5th innings. In the five innings played, pitcher Theo F. threw seven strikeouts and only allowed one hit.

But CA struggled at Bishop Waterson on Thursday, April 25, succumbing 3-5. The Vikes hit the scoreboard right off the bat in the top of the 1st, with a homer from Joey, batting in Theo to tally two runs. The Eagles matched Academy with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first. In the top of the 2nd, Thomas R. scored on a line drive from Dominic D., and CA kept Watterson scoreless in the bottom of the second. The Eagles outscored the Vikings, however, 3-0 in the third, as both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the innings.

Heath tore the Vikings to shreds on Saturday, April 27, handing CA a 0-10 shutout loss. The Vikes failed to muster a single hit and allowed Heath nine hits on only four strikeouts.

Academy’s next match is Monday, April 29, at Buckeye Valley at 5:15 p.m.
