Baseball Crushes Rival Bexley, Loses to the Aces

The varsity baseball team went 3-1 from April 15 to April 21, beating Bexley twice, Bishop Ready once, and losing to Amanda-Clearcreek.

The Vikings traveled to the Lions on Monday, April 15, pummeling them 18-3 in only 6 innings. Sunil S. and Joey G. batted in 4 and 3 runners, respectively. Pitcher Harmon G. threw for 11 strikeouts.

CA hosted Bexley on Thursday, April 18, edging out the victory 4-3. Both teams were scoreless through the first two innings, with Bexley hitting the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the 3rd. The Vikes struck back in the bottom of the 3rd, with Hayes D. and Thomas R. making it home. In the bottom of the 5th, CA scored two more runs, with one coming off a home run from Joey. Academy allowed 2 runs in the top of the 7th but held out for the win.

Hosting Bishop Ready on Friday, April 19, the team won 6-5. The first three innings stayed quiet, but Bishop Ready took the lead 2-1 in the 4th. Then, the Silver Knights increased their lead to 5-2 in the 5th. Thanks to runs by Harmon, William D., and Theo F., the Vikings tied 5-5 by the end of the 7th and secured the win in the bottom of the 8th with a run by Jason S.

Amanda-Clearcreek pounded CA on Saturday, April 20, scoring one or more runs in the last six innings to hand Academy a 4-8 defeat.

The Vikes head to Bishop Ready on Tuesday, April 23 for a rematch at 5:15 p.m.
