Baseball Starts Season with Mixed Results

From April 1 to April 7, varsity baseball won and lost two matches.

Hosting Grandview Heights on Wednesday, April 3, the Vikings fell short 9-10 in a match that went to the extra innings. Joey G. and Peter T. had notable performances at bat, with 1 and 2 runs batted in, respectively.

At Grandview on Thursday, April 4, CA battered the Bobcats 13-6, with Joey garnering a massive 5 RBI, 4 of them from a grand slam. 

The Vikings won 3-2 on Friday, April 5, against Worthington Christian. CA hit the scoreboard first in the top of the 1st inning on Joey’s line drive which led to Theo F.’s score. The Warriors struck back in the bottom of the 5th due to a fielding error by shortstop Peter T. In the top of the 6th, Joey scored off a walk by Joseph S. But the Warriors tied the score back up 2-2 in the bottom of the 7th. Academy scored its final run in the top of the 8th, with Theo’s line drive helping Anthony P. get home. William D. and Harmon G. combined for 12 strikeouts and allowed only 5 hits.

On Saturday, April 6, Ottawa Hills walloped the Vikings, giving them a 3-13 loss. CA’s pitchers, Nathan L-P. and Thomas R., only managed 2 strikeouts.

The team travels to Worthington Christian on Tuesday, April 9 for a match at 5:15 p.m.
