AquaVikes Send Swimmers to States

At Ohio University’s Division II District Championships on Friday, February 16, several swimmers secured spots to states. The boy’s team walked away with their third consecutive win at districts, while the girls finished third.

Finishing with 262 points, 55 points ahead of second-place Athens, the boys dominated in the relays. They are district champions in the 200 medley, 200 free, and 400 free relays, finishing 1:40.35, 1:30.48, and 3:19.04, respectively. The squads feature Mircea B., William D., William H., Andy L., Justin L., and Greyson T. 

In the 100 breast, William H. captured the sole individual gold in 57.64, with William D. close behind in 59.56. William and Andy competed in the 100 free, taking second and fifth place in 46.28 and 47.75, respectively. To round out the top five finishers, Andy snagged fourth in the 50 free (21.65), and Mircea finished fifth in the 200 IM (2:02.27).

Representing Academy at states are Mircea (100 breast and 200 IM), William D. (100 breast), William H. (100 free and 100 breast), Andy (50 free and 100 free), and the relay teams.

The girls tallied 217 points, placing them third. Lillian B. swam 2:11.41 and 59.62 in the 200 IM and 100 fly, putting her in second and third, respectively. The 200 medley (Lillian, Maddie E., Olivia L., and Morgan S.) and 400 free (Ella L., Rene F., Clara S., and Maddie) relays snatched bronze in 1:49.67 and 3:46.55. In the 50 free and 100 free, Olivia took third and fourth with 24.10 and 52.54, respectively. Other top finishers include Ella in the 500 free (5:17.08 for fourth) and 200 free (1:57.49 for fifth), and Maddie in the 50 free (24.89 for fifth).

Lillian (100 fly and 200 IM), Maddie (50 free and 100 free), Olivia (100 free), Ella (200 free and 500 free), and the 400 free and 200 medley relay squads will compete at states.

We wish the AquaVikes the best as they travel to the Branin Natatorium on Thursday, February 22, and Friday, February 23, for states!
