Indoor Track Dominates at First Meet

Traveling to Capital University, the indoor track team competed in the Central District Indoor Championships on Sunday, January 28. This marked the second season for the indoor team. Both the girls and boys teams competed in the Division 2-3 championships. 

For the girls team, Zoya A. captured a win in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.18. Caitlynn H. and Lizzie B. both competed in the 200m earning 6th and 11th, respectively. Lizzie placed 3rd in the 400m with a time of 1:13.57. In field events, Alli K. participated in both the high jump and triple jump. In the high jump, she soared to a height of 5’6” and in the triple jump she jumped 10.21m. She tied her high jump record and broke her triple jump record, which makes her 1st in the state in high jump and 3rd in the state in triple jump. The girls earned a 4th place finish out of 12 teams. 

The boys team placed 6th out of 14 teams. Clement W. earned 14th in the 60m and 10th in the 200m. In the 800m, Elliott S. placed 4th with a time of 2:17.25 and Max B. placed 9th with a time of 2:35.50. Additionally, Elliot raced in the mile along with Chris H. Elliot captured the win with a time of 4:53.33, and Chris ran a 5:04.15 to earn him 4th. Chris H. also ran the 3200m and placed 4th with teammate Max B. who placed 5th. Sunil S. was the only Viking to participate in the field events. With a throw of 9.88m in shot put, Sunil earned himself 8th place.
