Boys Basketball Beats Bexley, Loses to Bishop Ready

Boys basketball collected a 52-43 victory over Bexley in the rival’s first meeting of the season. This win makes the Vikes a perfect 4-0 on the season, including 2-0 in league play. Junior Anderson D. led the team to secure the win.The first quarter was an ugly affair, with both teams committing turnover after turnover, which led to an 8-4 Bexley lead going into the second quarter.

The teams went back and forth throughout the second quarter. With the help of a Cole S. putback dunk over a Bexley defender, The Vikes cut the deficit down to just one point going into halftime. 

They picked up steam in the third quarter, outscoring Bexley 19-6 to take a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Bexley came into the fourth quarter firing on all cylinders. The Lions continued to rack up points, which culminated in a three-pointer with 1:30 left on the clock to make it a two- possession game. The Vikes slowed down their pace, and MJ J. made a lay-up and a free throw to seal the win.

Academy was back in action against Bishop Ready on Saturday, December 16. The Silver Knights beat the Vikes 59-42, delivering them with their first loss of the season. Ready was led by point guard Micah Germany, who went a perfect 9/9 from beyond the arc. 

The Vikes will face Fredericktown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 22.
