Under the direction of Ms. Sneeringer, fifteen upper school band members and Ms. Barger-Amato from the Development Office traveled to North Broadway United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 14, to play an hour’s worth of holiday music for the elderly.

Players were Adam A. (trombone), Ridah A. (french horn), Graham A. (trumpet), Mrs. Barger-Amato (clarinet), Max B. (saxophone), Lucy I. (saxophone), Indigo K. (flute), Robbie L. (clarinet), Carolina M. (baritone), Chaz M. (percussion), Maria M. (trumpet), Marceline O. (saxophone), Clara S. (trombone), Emma S. (trumpet), Josh S. (bassoon), and Rachael S. (bassoon).

Tunes included classics as“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “Jingle Bells.” A fan favorite was Meredith Wilson’s “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”

Marceline O. said, “It was nice playing for the seniors, as sometimes we can forget the bigger picture behind music. The unification that music so beautifully brings really tied together this holiday season.”

Academy’s Upper School Concert Band will compete at the Ohio Music Education Association’s Large Group Contest, as they hope to repeat last year’s top rating of Superior in mid-March.
