Empty Bowls Serves up a Success

(Melanie Q./Staff)

On Friday, December 8, from 5-7 p.m. Academy hosted its annual Empty Bowls event at Otterbein. For the cost of $20, guests received unlimited soup, bread, and their choice of a handmade bowl created by Academy ceramic students. Profits were donated to Habitat for Humanity which builds homes for families in need around the Columbus area.

Prior to the event, the ceramic students trimmed, glazed, and fired over 600 hundred bowls for the event, of which the purchase of 334 bowls netted $5,694, making it the biggest Empty Bowls sale so far.

Ceramics Club Co-President Maddie M. said, “It is always one of the best events of the year! Thank you to everyone who participated in any part of the event and for everyone who came out to join us tonight!”
