The boys basketball team collected its first win of the season, beating Northside Christian 52-38 at home on Saturday, December 2. Leading the team, Jack H-S. and Anderson D.scored 13 points each. This win marks the beginning of a promising season.
Jason S. sank two free-throws to open the scoring after being fouled on a hook-shot from the right baseline. Anderson followed with hit a cutting to Jack to put the Vikes up 4-0. They continued to rack up points, finishing the first quarter, 15-4. The Vikes struggled in the second quarter, shooting 23% from the field and being outscored 15-6 by the Lions. Despite the poor shooting, Academy achieved a two-pont lead at halftime.
The third quarter went back and forth between the teams, but the Vikes managed to pull away towards the end to go up 13 points heading into the fourth quarter. They then rolled through the fourth quarter en route to a 52-38 victory.
The Vikings are back in action on Wednesday, December 6 at Patriot Prep. On Friday, December 8, they begin league play at Whitehall.
