Bowling: Boys go 1-2, Girls drop 1 in Opening week

On the hallowed ground of HPL’s Bowling Center, Academy began its new season with hunger and vigor. On Monday, November 27, the boys vanquished Centennial 1510-1466. Senior Adi S. led with 319 pins, senior STUCO officer Adam R. hit 275, team captain Josh K. rumbled to a 249, Robbie L. collected 228, and Mark D. and Henry W. scored 105 and 117 respectively. Final scores for regular games were 1290-1178. The team fell in baker games (where 5 players share a line to bowl, each player with two frames) 220-287, the boys overcame the Stars with a 112 pin lead.

The girls team fell to Centennial 559-887. Morgan L.’s 177 was first for the team, followed by Ellen H. with 159 and Sophie F. with 106. They lost bakers 117-151.

On Thursday, November 30, the teams squared off at HPL against Worthington Christian, losing 1731-1517. Adi had a team-best 320, Adam bowled 266, Reed S. saw his first action of the year with a 231, Josh had 229, Henry an 83 and Mark a 120–combined for 203. They lost bakers 268-277.

The boys traveled to Holiday Lanes on December 1 to face Whitehall Yearling and suffered a 1471-2307 drubbing. The loss’ contributions included Adam (352), Mark (251), Josh (230), Adi (209), and Henry (163). The Rams won bakers 266-277.

The boys and girls squads host Whetstone at HPL on Tuesday, December 5 and travel to Sequoia Pro Bowl to face Beechcroft on Thursday, December 7.
