X-C Boys Medal 4th, Girls Take 6th at CBL Championship

Clara S. and Melanie Q. (Abigail Z./Staff)

Hours before Homecoming, our Cross Country Vikes traveled to Buckeye Valley for their last seasonal meet at the Central Buckeye League Championships on Saturday, October 14.

A tie for 4th from Melanie Q. and Clara S. with 21:26.80 catapulted the girls to 6th, with Sophie L.’s 24:50.50, Indigo K.’s season-best 27:35.00 and Maria M.’s 29:39.40 also contributing.

Dane C. ran 17:28.90 for 4th and Elliot S. raced 18:46.30 for 19th to add to the boys 4th. Henry S. and Giuseppe P. ran 19:49.70 and 19:52.50 to achieve 24th and 25th, respectively.

A successful season finished with personal records broken and strong team spirit forged, yet the 2024 season cannot come fast enough for Academy’s Cross Country Vikings.

Senior co-captain Maria M. said, “It’s a melancholy feeling, for sure! I’ve run with this team the last four years, and to know that I only have postseason left can be a little saddening. Still, I’m proud of how far I and this team have come since the beginning of the season.”

The Vikings postseason begins Saturday, October 21 with districts at Hilliard Darby, the boys compete Division 2 while the girls run Division 3.
