Academy hosted its Viking Invitational on Saturday, October 7, bringing home the boys a 1st win and the girls 4th place.
Melanie Q. and Sophie L. ran their season bests of 20:46.16 and 22:12.20 to land a 2nd and 11th, respectively. With times of 26:20.24 and 27:49.82, Elle V. medaled 28th and Indigo K. nabbed a season-best 32nd. The team’s top runners, Clara S. and Claire D., were absent, so the girls could not repeat its first-place performance from the Senior Night Invitational.
The boys score came from Dane C. with a 1st-ranked 17:09.48 and Elliot S. with a 4th-ranked 17:31.77, both personal bests. Not far behind, Chris H. finished 7th and Andy B. dashed to 8th with 17:50.87 and 18:29.05, respectively. Rounding out the boys, Giuseppe P., Henry S., and Max B. secured 10th, 12th, and 13th, all with sub-20-minute times. Adam A. improved his personal best to 28:18.19.
Sophie L. said, “We’ve run some pretty difficult courses and still done well, so overall, I’d say my junior season has been great, despite some injuries across the board.”
The Maroon and Gray’s last in-season meet is the Central Buckeye League Championship, slated for Saturday, October 14 at 9:00 a.m.
