After the annual Charlie David Dinner on Friday, September 8, Academy’s football team continued to boost school morale with its 28-12 win against Fort Laramie on Hondros.

Fort Laramie scored six points in the first quarter, but a pass from Jack Y. to wide receiver Justin A. delivered the ball through the touchdown zone in quarter two, closing the gap.

Jack Y. made two more successful passes in quarter three, once to Harmon G. for a headtop touchdown and another to Tommy J. during a two-point conversion. With three minutes left, Justin A. sprinted into the end zone to score one more six-point touchdown, pulling the Vikes ahead 21-12 by the end of the third quarter.

In the last quarter, Fort Laramie intercepted Jack Y. during a pass, but Joey G. followed with his own interception to regain possession of the ball. Running back Greyson T. delivered the final touchdown of the night, helping the Vikings triumph with 28-12.

Students and faculty of all divisions gathered in support of the first home football game as Aanav K. and Lauren W., Vlad and Vicky, led cheers to increase spirit. As the sun set and lights illuminated Hondros field, one line stood out among the shouts of the crowd: “V-I-K-E-S! Let’s go Vikes!”

With Academy’s football team now riding a 4-0 winning streak, it faces St. Charles on Thursday, September 14 at home.
