Football Dominates Newark Catholic

Academy’s football team defeated Newark Catholic with a 40-0 victory on Friday, September 1.

From the start, wide receiver Gabe D-R. led the team with a touchdown in the opening kickoff and then took a jet sweep in the next possession and followed through with another touchdown, bringing the score to 28-0 by the start of the second quarter.

By the third quarter, the Vikings pulled even further ahead with 34-0, before scoring another touchdown to finish the night with 40 points ahead in a defensive shutout.

Theo F., Gabe D-R., and Will B. accumulated several interceptions throughout the night. Quarterback Jack Y. contributed two throwing touchdowns, and Greyson T. extended the advantage with a long touchdown run. Tommy J. also caught a long touchdown pass to help the team emerge victorious.

The Vikings clobbered Newark Catholic’s Green Wave, adding another win to their 3-0 record. Their winning streak will be tested on Friday, September 8 in Academy’s first game on Hondros against Fort Loramie after the annual Charlie David Dinner.
