Boys Track Secures 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Wins

Boys track hosted its Senior Night on Hondros Field on Wednesday, April 26. The team recognized Gabe E., Jonathan H., Emmanuel J., Monish S., Kevin W., and Max Z. and the team’s 67.5 to Bishop Watterson’s 56.5. 

Elliot S. ran to first in both the 400m dash and the 800m run in 56.38 and 2:10.01. Justin A., Charlie B., and Colin H. also placed first in the 100m, 300m hurdles, and 3200m in 11.73, 44.54, and 13:05.08, respectively. 

In the 200m dash, Monish S. finished second with 24.35 while hurdler Gabe A. ran 17.92 in the 110m hurdles, propelling him to second as well. 

In relay squads, Academy placed first place in the 4x200m, 4x400m, and 4x800m with times of 1:39.54, 3:50.90, and 9:46.10, respectively. In the field events, Jack H-S. won the long jump with an 17’11.” Marcus J. placed second in shot put and third in the discus, throwing 40’6” and 103’0”. 

The boys clinched second overall at Fredericktown on April 29 to compete against Clearfork, Delaware Christian, East Knox, Fredericktown, Gilead Christian, Highland, Mansfield Christian, Mount Vernon, Newark Catholic, Oakstone Academy, Philo, St. Peter’s and Utica.  

Gabe A. and Chazlance M. ran 18.09 and 19.06 in the 100m hurdles, emerging in second and fifth. Gabe A. received another podium finish in the 300m hurdles with 46.77 in third. The team saw other third-place finishes in the 100m, 400m, and 3200m by Justin A., Gabe D-R., and Dane C. with times of 11.84, 53.51, and 10:30.60, respectively. Both the 4x100m and 4x200m relays clocked in at second with 46.50 and 1:33.96. 

Marcus J. threw a 39’9” in shot put and a 104’7” in discus, putting him at third and fifth. In the long jump, Justin A. won with 18’9”, and Gabe D-R. secured third by clearing 5’4” in the high jump. 

The team competes on Thursday, May 4 at Worthington Christian, followed by a relay meet on Friday, May 5 at Johnstown.
