Boys varsity baseball rampaged this week, hosting and defeating Wellington on Monday, April 24, Centerburg on Tuesday, April 25, and Heath on Saturday, April 29. The team traveled to Johnstown-Monroe on Thursday, April 27, and collected another victory. During the boys Saturday game, they honored seniors Teddy B., Luke B., AJ B., Dylan R., and Rex W.

Academy shutout Wellington 10-0 on Monday, with pitchers Dominic D. and Rex W. throwing for a combined 2 hits and 5 strikeouts in 5 innings. Dominic, Theo F., Joey G., and Peter T. all tallied 2 runs while Harmon G. and Rex tallied 1 apiece. After the bottom of the 5th, the game was called, and CA was victorious.

The match against Centerburg ended with CA winning 10-0 again, with pitcher Theo throwing for 3 hits and 5 strikeouts in 5 innings. The Vikings took to the scoreboard early and never released the throttle, and by the end of the 2nd inning, the lead was 7-0, with Theo and Joey scoring in the bottom of the 1st and Dominic, Dylan, Harmon, Luke, and Theo scoring in the bottom of the 2nd. Harmon and Luke again made it home in the bottom of the 3rd, and Peter’s run in the bottom of the 4th sealed the match.

Away at Johnstown-Monroe, CA faced more adversity but still prevailed 10-7. Academy took a massive lead in the first 2 innings, going up 6-0 after the top of the 2nd. The score was 6-2 by the end of the 3rd, and in the top of 4th, the Vikings increased it to 8-2 on a double line drive from Peter which batted in Dominic and Sunil S. After the top of the 5th, CA had made the score 10-3, and even though Johnstown-Monroe kept the Vikes off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game, its 4 additional runs could not close the deficit.

Academy won 7-4 on its Senior night against Heath. CA stayed ahead the entire game, scoring 6 runs in the first 3 innings whereas Heath only managed 3. Theo made it home the most with 3 runs, and AJ, Dominic, Luke, and Rex all had runs to their names as well.

The Vikes travel to Worthington Christian on Monday, May 1, to play at 5:15 p.m.
